1. Study on Labor and Employment in China

Institute started the research on labor and employment in China . The results showed that 24% hidden unemployment existed in China . It is concluded that employment system should be reformed; unemployment was allowed to enhance economic efficiency; diversion and social security and other measures were proposed. The Study aroused the attention of leaders of state council and Shanghai municipal government. The study full of academic value won the highest prize in China 's economic community – Sun Yefang economic prize in 1990 and received Jiang Zemin and Rui xingwen's (secretary) encourage.

2. Study on Pudong development and the north shore of Hangzhou Bay Development

Research on Pudong development started with the direct care of former Shanghai mayor Daohan Wang.

Under the guidance of Guangyuan Yu the research on north shore of Hangzhou Bay Development started.

3. Study on China 's share-holding economy and securities market

We started research on China 's share-holding economy, advocated non-tradable share reform and developed securities market under the guidance of renowned economist Guanyuan Yu, deputy director of State Commission for Restructuring the Economy, Shangquan Gao, deputy director of the State Council Development Center , Mingyu Wu. At the macro level, they attended the large-scale seminars in Beijing and Shanghai , which accelerated development of Chinese capital market. At micro level, we assisted some companies such as Hualian planning reform of the shareholding system and going on the market.

4. Analysis on Economic Trend

We made analysis on Shanghai economic trend and provided a series of independent, objective analysis report and development conception for Kuangdi Xu, Jianmin Hua etc..

5. Preliminary Studies on Pudong Airport

The preliminary Research on Pudong airport and Expo provided the corresponding preparation to application for Expo and contributed especially to construction of Pudong airport.

6. Study on Joint-Venture

Organized and coordinated by deputy director of the Economic Restructuring Office, Jiwei Lou, we launched the research on foundation of a Shopping Mall in form of joint-venture for Mayor Rongji Zhu. We contracted and introduced International Shopping Mall Association, large consortium in the United States and Japan , which led to the formation of Pudong Yaohan eventually.

7. Study on enterprise labor reform

We carried out study on large state-owned enterprise reform, particularly on enterprise labor reform to improve their efficiency significantly.

8. Study on operation mechanism in enterprises

We developed research on incentive and restraint mechanisms regarding the operation of state-owned assets through mortgage of shares, options and personal assets. The achievement was highly appraised by organizational department and research center of shanghai municipal committee and economic committee as well.

9. Study on futures market

We invited Nobel Prize winner, director of the Futures Exchange in the United States, trustee of New York Stock Exchange and president of American financial association (Merton Miller) to visit China, organized several seminars, met the General Secretary Zemin Jiang and met with the leaders in Central bank and Security Regulatory Commission and also the leaders of Shanghai municipal government, Kuangdi Xu and Daohan Wang.

10. Comparative Study on Shanghai and Tokyo

The project concluded the lessons and experience during the development of Tokyo , provided some reference aimed at Shanghai 's development.

The study also brought a bright spot for the development of Pudong, namely by Shen Consortium invested first high-rise in the world, which is 460 meters high.
